Sarah Kirkby

<span>Sarah Kirkby, formerly Picot, was born in Sheffield, England; her family migrated to Freeport, Grand Bahama in 1969 and she is now a naturalized citizen of The Bahamas.  Sarah attended Sunland Lutheran School in Freeport until attending Pine Crest Preparatory High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Upon graduation, she attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where she obtained her BA in Broadcast (emphasis in Communications) as well as a BA in Fine Arts.<br /></span><br /><span>After working in London for four years she returned home to Grand Bahama and worked for Colombian Emeralds International as their Island Promotions Manager for their five companies. After six years with the company, she co-opened Grand Bahama's first full-service Advertising Agency, Fox New Media. The Kirkbys bought out their partner in 2000 and changed the company name to Barefoot Marketing, where she is now President and Marketing Director.<br /></span><br /><span>In addition to her Marketing company, Sarah has a property management company called Barefoot Locations.  The company looks after private 2nd homes, condominiums and bank-owned properties.  Barefoot also runs Grand Bahama News, with her partner the Nassau Guardian, a weekly supplement on Grand Bahama in the Tuesday paper, which is also shared on 242 News Bahamas, an online newsletter reaching over 20,000 readers.<br /></span><br /><span>Sarah is a long-standing member of the Freeport Players Guild and has served multiple years on the Executive Board. She served as an Executive Member of the Grand Bahama Children's Home, for over 20 years, served as Deputy Chairman of the GB Hotel Licensing Board, and sat on the GB Car Rental Board, as well as the GB Juvenile panel.  Sarah previously served as an executive on the GB Chamber of Commerce for two years and served for multiple years on their annual awards committee.  She is Treasurer of the Human Rights Association and has been actively involved in local charity organizations for years, as well as MC at events and as a judge for multiple shows and competitions.</span>
